Policies...

Social Participation
All are welcome and encouraged to join our Sisterhood, Men's Club, or become part of the many social activities offered within the synagogue.  Adat Shalom is committed to the concept of turning a community of Jews into a Jewish community.  We can all begin by reaching out to one another and making this synagogue a caring community.

Photography
The Rabbi, Staff and Board of Directors of Adat Shalom understands that families often want a photgraphic record of life cycle events, including B'nai Mitzvot. Accordingly, we have developed a liberal photography policy that also respects halachic (Jewish Law) standards set for Conservative congregations. Individual arrangements should be made with the Rabbi and the Executive Director who will work to accomodate your specific situation.

Use of the Facilities
The extensive physical resources of Adat Shalom are available for use by our members and other groups approved by our Board of Directors.  The sanctuary is available for weddings.  The social hall, lecture hall, library and multiple classrooms can be utilized for meetings, parties, classes and any events of interest to our community. Due to the size of our facility, we are able to hold multiple events simultaneously.  All scheduling of dates and times must be cleared through the synagogue office to avoid any possible conflicts.  Any event including food service must refer to the catering department.  For information regarding fees, please contact the office.Adat Shalom welcomes new membership inquiries.

Fiscal responsibility
The Adat Shalom Board of Directors and specifically its financial officers are committed to a course of reasonable and workable fiscal stability.  Our budget revolves around dues, capital commitments and contributions.  Hence, to remain fiscally responsible, it is necessary that our members meet their financial obligations to the synagogue.

Dues are set, not arbitrarily, but by careful analysis of the general operating costs of the synagogue.  The dues structure generates the money necessary to pay salaries, utilites and subsidies for congregatonal programs such as the religious school.  Any special considerations regarding yearly dues should be addressed to our chief financial officer at 412-820-7000.  All financial arrangements are kept strictly confidential.
